About Us
Hospital Navigator was founded in early 2005 to satisfy a growing requirement for the application of advanced management science and OR techniques to healthcare delivery, in the UK NHS and abroad.
Hospital Navigator is a subsidiary of Systems Navigator BV, a Dutch company specialising in the application of simulation and other computer based decision support technologies. Systems Navigator is the main European distributor for Arena, a leading simulation modelling tool. It has close associations with the simulation department at the Delft Technical University, a foremost Dutch academic institution.
Key Personnel
Andrew Hay
The lead healthcare consultant is Andrew Hay, who was for 25 years a consultant surgeon in the UK NHS. He has a long-standing interest in the scheduling and planning problems of hospitals, having led the team that in 1992 was awarded a British Computer Society medal for innovation in the development of hospital scheduling software and that in 1998 received an NHS Beacon award for the development of computer based bed management systems.
Rienk Bijlsma
Rienk Bijlsma has more than 10 years' experience in Operational Research. In his role as Managing Director of our parent company, Systems Navigator, he has introduced OR technologies to a wide variety of industries in Europe.
